Caledon Equine’s laser has opened up new avenues for treating horses in Ontario. With our laser we are able to remove uterine cysts in mares, reducing the confusion of whether the pregnancy ultrasound exam is seeing a conceptus or a cyst.
Standing laryngeal surgery with the laser is useful for eliminating noise in some horses (‘roarer’) as well as taking care of other upper respiratory abnormalities.
Our laser is also essential to allow us to perform a surgery to eliminate cribbing in horses. Cribbing has been associated with an increased incidence of colic in horses, as well as the obvious damage it causes to fences, stalls and horses teeth.
